In this action, the United States 2d Infantry Division and attached units including the French and Netherlands infantry battalions displayed extraordinary heroism, performing brilliantly against an enemy numerically vastly superior. Staunch resolution of these forces in face of great odds provided a major contribution to the success of United Nations forces.
