Wat andere landen zeiden over Nederlandse militairen en missies.
Waar dit vandaan komt
Van overheden en organisaties: uitspraken van een regering, minister, staatshoofd of officiële woordvoerder, of van de NAVO, de EU of de VN, die Nederland noemen. Van media: artikelen uit media van verschillende politieke kleur, ook staatsmedia, die als zodanig gemarkeerd zijn. Een nieuwsbericht of interview staat er als "verslag" bij, een opiniestuk, commentaar of redactioneel stuk als "mening": dat geeft een standpunt. Een verslag is daarmee nog geen vaststelling van feiten. De kleur van een medium is die van Media Bias/Fact Check; Heimdall beoordeelt media niet zelf.
Een reactie is een uitspraak, geen vaststelling van wat er gebeurde. Het citaat staat in de eigen taal; een Nederlandse vertaling is van Heimdall. De toon (positief, neutraal, kritisch) en de samenvatting per land zijn een inschatting, gemaakt door een AI-agent op grond van de verzamelde reacties, en staan er altijd zo bij. Een site met een botcontrole of betaalmuur wordt niet omzeild: van zo'n land of medium kan een reactie ontbreken.

De Hoge Raad oordeelde in 2019 dat Nederlandse VN-blauwhelmen 'onrechtmatig handelden' toen zij op 13 juli 1995 de mannen van hun basis bij Srebrenica lieten vertrekken en aan de Bosnisch-Servische troepen overdroegen, terwijl zij wisten dat die 'ernstig gevaar liepen te worden mishandeld en vermoord'.

Er komt nooit een “afsluiting” voor het kleine, slecht uitgeruste bataljon Nederlandse vredeshandhavers dat in juli 1995 8.000 islamitische mannen en jongens in de VN-“veilige zone” Srebrenica moest beschermen. Achteraf gezien was het de oorspronkelijke mission impossible.
